Examples

An example is a particular instance of a concept. Examples allow you to form discriminations between concepts.

EXAMPLE OF AN EXAMPLE

A picture of a cup, or an actual cup would be an example of a concept. Any particular cup or picture of a cup does not cover all the possible forms in which cups come, but if you see enough examples you will be able to discriminate between cups and non-cups.

A video of a Ruby-throated hummingbird is an example of the concept Ruby-throated hummingbird. If you have ever tried to identify birds, you will know how difficult it can be because any particular bird will have variations in coloring. Nevertheless, a few examples will help you discriminate between Ruby-throated hummingbirds and other hummingbirds.
